McLaren Lake Regional Park

McLaren Lake Regional Park has a natural beauty on its own with the spring watershed spilling into the lake from miles around. With a man-made dam constructed in the 1960’s, the lake when full, covers approximately 2 square miles.

 

Amenities of swimming, boating, and fishing. The park is treed and with a rejuvenation of new shelter-belts. Negotiations for the park began in 1961 with 5000 trees being planted. In 1965 the ball diamond and concession were built.

In 1966, 250,000 pickerel fish were stocked into the lake, following this golf course and office were added. In 2016-17 a new bathroom/shower was constructed.

Camping

Camping sites within the mapped campground offer 15-30 amp electrical power. A program to upgrade electrical pedestals began in 2011 and 2013 with total of 60 sites being available. Washrooms and showers are available. A camp kitchen is available for family get-togethers (includes fridge, briquette barbeque, seats 30) A canteen on the north east side offers confectionery and fast food, washrooms on south side.

Effective 2023- Electrical sites $30/night or $180/week

Seasonal Park Passes - $50,  Seasonal sites $1450/May 15 - Sept 15.

Firewood

New policy passed for the 2021 camping season - In order to protect our area, McLaren Lake prohibits bringing your own firewood into the park. Many parks ban outside wood being brought into the parks because people can unknowingly bring pests and disease & excess metals (nails, bolts etc.) into the parks on their firewood. Help us keep our beautiful park safe! Firewood may be purchased at the office for $10 per bundle.

Swimming

Swimming is available, no lifeguard on duty, swim at your own risk. A Blue Imp playground, swings and slide, tether ball and basketball hoop for children. A ball diamond within the park is fenced with bleachers and two horseshoe pits.

Old Dock

Paddle boats and a canoe are available to rent at the concession, fishing is available, jet skis boats, sailboats and water skiing are permitted. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout in 2011-2013, in 2015 200,000 Northern Pike and trout again in 2017.

Gate & Concession

A walking trail has been established as it offers a lake side stroll to enjoy the sights and sounds within the wildlife sanctuary of the Park. This trail runs along the south side of the lake, there are benches and it offers a good view of the scenery, birds and the lake. Driving range available/ Golf course is  under renovation.

Music Festival

McLaren Lake annual Slo-Pitch Tournament/Music Festival- slo-pitch, music stage, pancake breakfast and pie social- 2nd weekend in July

Canada Day – Fireworks/food

Open May 15th - Sept 15th. Regional Park Pass required
